This book represents the voice of Tribal India. It encompasses the collection of chapters from tribal and non-tribal scholars addressing some of the pressing issues faced by the tribes in the Indian context. These issues intersect with global climate change, food insecurity, natural resources, like land, water, and forest, loss of culture and identity, diseases and pandemics, health, and well-being. This modestly attempted book aspires to provide insights to tribes multifaceted struggles, conflicts, and coping even as they continue to live and negotiate with the fast evolving social reality, as an impetus to scholars and practitioners in Tribal Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Social work, and other allied disciplines.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Longshibeni N Kithan holds a PhD in Socio-cultural Anthropology from North Eastern Hill University. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Folkloristics and Tribal studies, Central University of Karnataka (CUK).. Prior to CUK, she taught at the Department of Anthropology, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. She writes on pertinent issues of Indian tribes and has contributed research papers in significant academic events in India and abroad, book chapters and articles to journals; peer reviewer to significant journals in the field of Anthropology and tribal research.
